Hook it up to a VCR or a DVD Recorder using the RCA plugs. Just remember one source out to the other source in. Match the color of the plugs. Xbox To VCR/DVDR in , VCR/DVDR out to TV.

Console via rca to vcr ... vcr to pc ... set pc to record to required format ... let it go and start playing game .

Had fun with brother a while back ... he couldn't figure out why the game wasn't working , so I showed him what was on the tv was infact pc playback ...

My kids do this with a number of consoles. I use an ATI AIW (an old DDR 64mg, think it was then called a AIW 7000/7200) and simply capture your frags! You can caputure to MPEG2 for later DVDs or to uncompressed avi, or even divx/xvid if needed. You'll actually like the display your monitor gives you over your television. Actually, if I remember right, the XBOX will do 480p.

    Now if we're talking 360, that's a different story...

alright so i got the setup right...all the recording works fine...just one big problem, when i play on my xbox360 the controls would fall behind my movement (example: i move left w/ my control stick...5 seconds later i would move left) thats not good at all. wats goin on?

*update, i tried ripping the dvd to my comp using FAIRUSE, but it could only rip the menu screen of the dvd..ewk. plus, i wanted to check if there was any audio on the dvd...no audio at all. recording is great, but now i have some major problems...HELP plz!

*update2, it lags behind only when i START recording, should i move on to the vcr method before i waste anymore dvds

OK, now we're talking getting high def video if you're using the 360. If you're happy with regular D1 resolution then I still think playing/recording realtime with a capture card to your PC is the cheapest and cleanest way to do it. In that case, an ATI AIW or similar will work just fine. Actually, expanding the window to full screen looks surprisingly good.

However, if you want to capture high-def then things get relatively expensive. Getting a capture card or external device for high def isn't for the faint of heart, but..., will get some really nice video. Here's some choices: http://www.videoguys.com/vidcap.htm#cards
