DVD Decrypyter with AnyDVD for ripping

DVDFab Decrypter is the freeware alternative to payware AnyDVD.

DVD Rebuilder with CCE for re-encoding to 4.37GB.

Ripping software does not effect quality in any way, shape or form.

  5. DVDDecrypter. For discs that have structural protection (Ripguard, ARccOS), use DVDDecrypter in conjunction with the PSL2 plugin wizard for PgcEdit. This can cope with anything out now, and almost certainly can handle anything in future that complies with the DVD spec.

I confess I don't like DVDFabDecrypter, 'cuz it'll shove in dummies at any read error, and without telling you. Whether the read error was caused by protection or not. Also, both Fab and AnyDVD are dependent on frequent updates, and at times leave "junk" behind. To allow DVDShrink to open the files, it's sometimes necessary to clean up the crap with FixVTS. Shrink is picky and wants to see a good valid structure.

But to each his own, JMHO.

P.S. Oh, and a good rip is a good rip, quality isn't at issue.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

  7. You have left ripping and are now talking about conversion or encoding. Different software.

There is no "best" software, one problem is there is no way to determine the "best" output from any particular program.

What is the "best" hamburger? The "best" coffee?

All you are going to get is opinions, since you are the one actually using the output, why would you consider anyone else's opinion more important than your own?

Pick any 6 at random from the tools list, this group will be close to the 6 or so recommended "best" programs. In either case, you can either pick one, again at random, or actually try several, LOOK at the output, and make your own decision.

I would recommend you start reading some posts and guides, at this point you are likely to get recommendations for the most "idiot-proof" software as opposed to software giving the best quality, these usually require decisions, judgment, and user input.
