It's just that it's the only program I know of that has the editing capabilities I need, for an average, non-techie consumer. I have spent so much money updating this and that in my own system (file:///c:/Documents%20and%20Settings/HP_Owner/Desktop/(Home).html) and still the program keeps inventing new problems. It's really hard to let go of the time and money investment I've already made in it and also the levels of control it promised me over my video, especially since it works some of the time and I know how to use it. But everytime I think I've finally finished a project, it freaks out in some way, decides to stutter or stall the video, hangs in the rendering process, etc. etc...and the support is completely inept...
So what do you people think is my least expensive/painful solution at this point? Is it possible another program could have as many features and not **** up all the time? If I go back to ground zero and buy another program and learn how to use it and lose my already created Studio projects, will my problems then be over, or is it all a crapshoot?
Thanks.

I've found Pinnacle Studio to be good for capturing with my Dazzle DVC 150, but not so good for anything else. (It always hangs during rendering). So I use it just for capturing and then drag and drop the resulting mpeg file into something else for editing/rendering, etc., in my case ArcSoft ShowBiz or Nero. I'm sure you could use other editng software as well.

I have found Pinnacle Studio to be the buggiest pile of crap out there,I recommend Ulead VideoStudio.

Vegas Movie Studio or Premiere Elements. Both can capture, both have good editing capabilities, and both have good pedigree. Both also have good encoders.

What version do you use? I have been using version 7.15 for several years on three different computers with zero problems. My version does not burn DVD's, and I don't use it for encoding. I capture, edit and render with Pinnacle Studio, encode with TMPGEnc+ (since I was an early user), then burn with TMPGEnc DVD Author. Do any of your errors/problems happen prior to encoding?
