I've downloaded some vids from youtube and managed to convert them to working MPEG files (some using VLC and various combinations of mpeg audio, mp3 audio/mpeg 1 video, mpeg2 video/mpegs1 format, mpeg-ts format, and mpeg-ps format (some combinations result in working vid without audio, others result in a working vid with aud & vid), others using riva encoder). These MPEGs play fine on the computer, but VCD easy complains that it's not a multiplexed MPEG file, and VirtualDubMod says that it can't render the file because the audio frame is incomplete. I get the same errors whether I use VLC or riva for the conversion. It's pretty clear that the problem lies somewhere in the audio, but does anyone have any idea what I can do about it?

vcd requires mpeg1, mpeg audio, fixed bitrate and specific resolution, www.videohelp.com/vcd

try convert with super instead and set it to mpg vcd compliant.

VCDeasy can use just about any MPEG compliant file, it makes all the resolution, bitrate, etc conversions to VCD or SVCD (whichever you choose). The problem is that I don't seem to be getting a proper MPEG file (even though VLC is supposed to convert the audio to the format I choose, regardless of it's original format). I guess I'll have to see if super can give me a proper MPEG to work with.

There's always TMPGEnc. Should be able to load flv's if you have Gabest's splitter installed (also ffdshow for decoding older flv files).
