This is my first shot at this. I have a compact wireless router that supports 802.11b and g. I borrowed a wireless pcmcia card from a friend that is 802.11b to get started. I installed the card in my laptop and the drivers. It is functioning in device manager. When I connect to the network it show connected good signal but I get limited or no connectivity, any help with this would be great thanx all.

At the risk of stating the obvious, one or more of your configurations is off. One of the single most common errors is to make sure that you do not have "Let Windows configure connection" (or words to that effect) enabled, but the software configuration enabled. Also try to reboot your modem (I assume that you have broadband-first unplug the power to the router, then unplug the power to the cable modem; wait 60 seconds. In order, replug the router in and wait for the lights to configure, the plug the modem in). Make sure that DHCP is enabled, not static IP address (unless your ISP insists on it, which would be rare).

Has the router ever worked with any other wireless computers? Some router mfrs are now shipping their routers with the wireless turned off so that you're forced to go through a wired connection first and must configure the wireless security settings. (Netgear, for one.)
