Demux DivX / XviD Files

I have some divx and Xvid files and i want to demux then to use with DVDMaestro. What program can i use?


I have some subtitles too, in srt format. i will convert them with subrip. But some files are splitted in 2 or more parts, each one with it own srt file. How can i make a unique file (both divx and srt) to use with DVDMaestro?

You can demux them using VirtualDub, however you won't be able to import in DVDMaestro: you must convert them to MPEG2 first.

but how do I encode a video to m2v that is the format used by maestro? i will need to encode the audio to AC3 and the video to m2v right?

You need an mpeg encoder - tmpgenc, ProCoder, CCE or even the freeware encoders Quenc or HCEnc will do. For audio, ffmpeggui.

Why do you have such expensive software if you obviously have no idea about the very beasics of what you are doing ?

i know what im doing (i hope so) just tought m2v was different from mpeg. At last the thread is in the newbie area, so dont flame me :P

Im aiming for quality: what one should i take?

m2v is the video stream from inside an mpeg. .Mpeg or .mpg is usually the extension for a programmed stream (combined audio and video streams). .m2v or .mpv usually denotes just the video stream. .mpa usually implies mpeg audio stream, while .AC3 and .DTS are pretty self-explanitory.

ProCoder Express is pretty good. ProCoder if you have the budget.

Now just one more question, when i convert a video from DivX to mpeg, it will change the fps from 25 to 29.97, this way the audio and the subtitles will get out of sync right?
