'C:Windows\System32' should be fine for standard DShow filters but the filters i found on the web, i think they were 'Celtic Druid' compiles were found in a directory labeled '64-bit'. Do those still go in the System32 directory or should they be placed in, and registered in, the 'C:\Windows\SysWOW' dirtectory?

What's the new rule?

32-bit DLLs go in the WOW one
64-bit DLLs go in system32You'd think that Microsoft would name the directory system64.
This does explain why the 'WnAspi32.dll' was completely ignored in the 'system32' directory, and why the current dshow filters, visible through the Radlight Filter Manager, were inside the sysWOW directory.
Thank You.

It's still called System32 because it makes it a lot easier for developers to port their 32-bit code to 64-bit.
