i`ve got me a new dvd player supporting mpeg-4 and also supporting subtitles in srt and sub formats.
whenever i load a movie (mpeg-4) i see the subtitles way too small. there isn't anyway i can change the size of the subtitles using the remote (i can only change subtitle language).
does anyone got an idea about making the subtitle font larger?
the dvd player is by Hyundai, i can't find the firmware or any hacks for my model anyware...
as i understood the firmware/hacks (when found) would support all three of the following models:
Hyundai DU-DIV85
Hyundai HU-DIU67
Hyundai HU-DIM92
please help me out here the subtitles font size is practically unreadable![]()

One option you might try if your player supports the ".divx" extension (it seems most newer players do) is that you can use Sub2DivX to generate graphical subtitles in a font and size you can easily read on your screen. It supports .srt subtitles as well as .sub format. Then you mux the new "pretty" subs along with your video into a .divx container using DivXMux GUI, and play on your player.
Though only some of the very newest players support all the features of the .divx container like menus and chapters, many of the recent players will happily play multiple audio tracks and the graphical subtitles in the divx container (you usually have to press the subtitle button on your remote to get it to display).

Thanks jliles, it worked like a charm
you're the man
converted those avi files to divx and my dvd played them quite nicely.
i`ve still got a bit of a problem with that sub2divx utility though... as i`ve been playing with it for like a day now, trying to convert all sort of files from avi to divx i noticed that he dosen`t like some of my files, the dos window kept on being stuck (muxing stage, always in the same point) in some of the files. at first i thought that maybe it`s a codec problem ... probably sub2divx dosen`t do so well with the codec used in that specific movie but when i tried to convet a movie combined from two avi files and sub2divx converted one and rejected the other i knew that it`s not a codec problem (since they had the same properties).
with this surprising enlightenment came a new thought that maybe one of the files is corrupted. i used a variety of utilities (like error check in virtualdub and divfix etc) to perhaps find an error or try to fix file, but no errors were found...
now i`m a bit confuse on why sub2divx convert some of my files but not the others... any thoughts? this utility has the potential of being great solution for me if he would just work properly..
thanks again for all your help -
Hi h00ter,
Technically speaking, I'm the woman, but you're very welcome all the same!
For your files that sub2divx won't handle correctly, it's possible they don't really have an error in them, but maybe they have some properties that don't meet the Divx home theater specification. Have you tried using GSpot or MediaInfo on the problematic files? MPEG4 Modifier is also a great tool for fixing some funkiness like packed bitstream without having to reencode the video. Try comparing what you find with these tools from the "good" files that work vs. the "bad" files and see what differences there are. Are the bad files encoded in DivX or another mpeg-4 variant like XVid?
You can try an experiment with one of the videos that doesn't work by re-encoding it to the Divx Home Theater specification using Virtualdub and seeing if Sub2DivX accepts it (I'm assuming here that you have the real Divx codec installed on your pc)
Finally, you can consider the possibility that sub2divx is a little buggy. You can try generating the graphical subs using this tool AFTER you check in the settings the option for the program NOT to delete the image and text files it creates when generating the subs. Then, if the creation of your divx file fails in sub2divx, you can do the actual muxing of the subtitles with the DivXMuxGUI program I mentioned earlier.
Just some options for you to try - hope that helps.

well i went with the easiest solution first, disabled "delete temp files" in sub2divx then used that DivXMux GUI to mux files since i also suspected that sub2divx might be buggy.
all went fine (several times) so problem solved 8)
thanks for that gender troubleshoot i didnt realised you are a woman, but hey that's even better.. now i use the term "i`ve could have kissed u right now"for all those fine ideas
