  1. Hello.
I'm new here and i've read some very useful guides about inserting subtitles into DVDs.
I've followed the instructions using subtitlecreator and success, all is well.

the only thing that bothers me is that i want to change the font type and size of the subtitle.
now, i saw that subtitlecreator used as default Arial.

let's say i have another DVD that I really like how the subtitles look.
is there a software or something that can show me what subtitles are used there (font type and size) so as to use the same in subtitlecreator?

the only thing i did so far is exporting the CLUT (Color LookUp Table) from the DVD i liked with pgcedit, and using it in the DVD i made. But i can't see anywhere something similar for the font type and size.

That's because there is no such app.

    Try WhatTheFont:

On a DVD, a subtitle is a bitmap image, not text and fonts. There is no information stored on the font used.

The WhatTheFont site mentioned has an associated forum where you can post an image and ask for an ID.

  5. I don't see the need to slavishly copy someone else's font anyway. Find one you like and use it. There are a plenty of good ones for DVD, and there have been discussions about just that both here and at Doom9. Here's one thread:

    Read this by a typographer.

    And NEVER use Arial again.

Most mainstream fonts have Greek versions, and Unicode ones include them all in one font.
