i need some help with a graduation i'm doing. The graduation is easily 3 hours and it all boils down to really editing it so that it comes down to 2 hours. From experience, What are the themes i should ensure that i have? I'm intending to have box screens showing pictures whilst the people are talking, putting a good set of transitions in it, split screens and etc in it. Do you think these are appropriate for a graduation?

usually ceremonies like that aren't the kind of thing you can cut up into little peices. It would be like chopping out parts of a wedding. not a good idea. You might want to burn to DL or break it up across 2 dvd's.

  4. I agree with greymalkin - I am about to graduate, and as I understand it you can't really cut the ceremony down at all. Use dual-layer discs to get the three hours on there at a decent quality.

As for the effects, I would personally prefer very simple effects. Cross-fade between any scenes and no fancy effects that are really in-your-face. Keep it subtle and fairly true to the original to capture the atmosphere properly.

I would also suggest a second audio track with just music from the years that you were in school.
