  1. Any comments on this new version?
Considering picking it up in a bundle package with TMPGEnc DVD Author 2.0

Would appreciate any info of this compared to 3.0 version --- is the AC-3 decoding present in this release, and you don't have to purchase the seperate program???

    THANKS!

2 channel AC3 encoding is bundled with TMPGEnc 4 and DVD author 2.

There are new nice filters, but Virtualdub has better options. For MPEG4 and ACC you will need to install at least Quick time 7. Just install version 7.1 as this fixes some security issues.

I still do not know if Nero implementation of MPEG4 is better than TMPGEnc, but I will try to test this during the next week.

I think the MPEG2 portion of the encoder is about the same ad the one in ver. 3. It probably has better support for SMP and SSE3 so I think it should be a bit faster.

I will be VERY interested to watch how you get on with TMPGEnc v. 2.0. Have you come from v. 1.6 perchance?.

Actually I was using TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5 before upgrating.

Probably going from version 1.5 to version 2.0 was not worth it. I do not like the automatic transcoding tool in Version 2, because it will be used whem it is not really needed. I say it is not needed because version 1.5 accepted the some MPEG files without complains, but unde version 2, the same files are transcoded

My girfriend likes better DVD Author 2 just because of the new extra templates.

Thinking of bundled versions, has anyone got any idea what TmpgEnc Easy Pack 2 is?
I got an email from Pegasys about it, unfortunately it's Japanese.
It's unclear from the translation, but it looks like it might be TmpgEnc 4.0 Xpress + TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 2.0 & TMPGEnc DVD Author 2.0 bundled together for 7980 Yen.

With TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress encoder I’m facing a problem that did not affected me before.

Basically the application closes by itself and do not report of any errors.

The first time it happened, was while processing a video of a soccer game recorded in a Panasonic DMR-ES10

The last time it happened I was processing 13 consecutives DV files type 1 of a home video. The total size of these files was around 16GB. The only filter that I was using was to normalize audio.

No, my machine is not currently overclock.

With Version 3.0 I never had these problems. At that time I did overclock. My machine was running with an FSB of 215MHz.
