has anyone got some recommendations on good programs to use for backing up some of my music to dvd. i tried nero but it always for some reason gives some sort of (error) a reading data error. i need something reliable that is going to burn all the way through even if say a song or two wont read or not work.

any ideas? programs maybe some of you have used that work good

Data error's are common for poor media ... try verbatim ... if error persist's , then drive may have problem , give it a clean ... if still no go consider drive replacement ... lg , sony , pioneer in this prefered order .

    -------------------

You could also place all your music into a main folder ... under this folder are artists folder's containing there music .

Run folder2iso at the main folder only ... place main folder name in both box's ... when saving iso , give it same name , and save it anywhere else on pc except in this particular folder ... and wait ... and dont save it to desktop either ...

Burn iso with dvddecrypter or the new variant ... Imgburn

    --------------------

Where are these file's coming from ? ... hd or cd .

If cd , consider using fairstars cd ripper .. it's freeware , to rip to hd ... name all tracks before ripping ... then burn them from hd to dvd .

If from hd ... what are they ... wma , wav , mp3 ... other ... some can have license restriction's ... like bought music from itune's and alike .

You will need to do some homework on those various type's and find out what it is you are allowed to do with them before burning them to dvd or cd .

Also use search function for those other type's should return other user post's related to these issue's ... which might help .

thanks for the well informed reply Bjs i appreciate it....i hear what youre saying; im thinking maybe it could just have to do with my media. i never aim for the most pricey media when purchasing and maybe its finally getting back to me! lol. hopefully it isnt my drive (but if it is i will keep those manafacturers in mind) i see you say give it a clean - how would i do that? is it something i could run im not sure ive ever done that.

    ----

and on getting my backed up music to disc, i have folder2iso right now and ive compiled a folder a little over four gigs, im making it into a iso - i could then burn this to dvd and later; what - how would i open it (to get my saved music back to a hardrive) ?? i know of course the computers gotta have a dvdburner

and on the copyrights thing i understand that but that cant be the case, theyre all mp3 most are old rare out or print cds, reason i want to back them up. others are cds ive backed up myself and own so it couldnt be something to do with that. thanks for the help
