It's interesting, I have a fusion hdtv 3 gold t capture card. I'm now using it to capture analog cable directly to dvd spec mpeg 2 files. When I set it for a timed recording it starts the program and records as it should. The recorded file looks great for whatever quality level I set it for.

The odd thing is during a timed recording I can't see or hear the program. All I have is a blank program video screen. But all of my recordings have been in synch and have acceptable picture quality.

Is this native to timed recordings on other capture cards or is this an aberration of the fusion series? I never did timed recordings on my old hauppauge wintv pvr250 because I didn't have cable in the room where my computer was, I used it strictly for vhs/camcorder dubbing.

It doesn't bother me but sometimes it would be nice to watch the recording while its being recorded. If anyone else has a similar situation I would be interested in hearing about it. Again its not a problem since the recordings are ok but I am curious about this.

I believe that's controllable by right-clicking on the Fusion system tray icon and picking the Fusion Agent option. The default recording mode is silent and minimized, but you can pick other options instead.

I have the Fusion HDTV 5 lite. When I do a timed recording, there is a minimized program button on the task bar which is enough to satisfy me that it is recording. When I am recording something, I am either watching it live on the 50 inch or I am out of the house.

Thanks. I see it now. I never thought to look there. And now I see the option to shutdown at the end of the recording. I like that instead of just half hour increments.

  5. FWIW, mine does the same thing. I find it kind of pointless to load the TV viewing window and fill it with blackness. But I will try the above solution too.
