  1. Hi, i'm new in the forum but i've read lots of the page and tutorials in the past that have helpmed me alot! I need help now, and have a question...

Recently i burned some DVD in a DVD burner that burned the DVD disc directly from what was been played in my VHS, so i tranfered my VHS tapes to DVD.

When i play them in my DVD player and watche them on my TV, i have no problem and they play full.

But when i play them in my DVD-Rom i can only play the first few minutes, and when i explore the DVD in the Windows Explorer, i only see 1 VOB file that is only like 126mb, yet Explorer also tellme the that the DVD has 4,3GB written.

How is this posible? the data is defnitly written in the disc, i can see in on my DVD player, but i've tried on diferent DVD-roms, and same!!! i cant see all the VOB file.

What i would like to do is convert those VOB files to MPG so i can edit them, but i cant even see those files.

I runed DVD Decripter and the DVD wasnt encripted, what else could it be???

I have 3 DVD-roms, LG, HP (just bought it), and one in my Toshiba Laptop.

Is there any way to get my dvd-rom to read all the files??? please help me...

You should try being patient. This isn't a chatroom, it's a forum. If you don't get a response in 24 hours then you might post again, but otherwise, wait.

At a guess, you have not finalised your DVD from your DVD Recorder, which is why the DVD Rom drive can see all the sessions. Read your recorder manual to find out how to do this.

  6. "guns1inger", i'm sorry, i didnt mean to be pushi...; yet, i did wait a couple of days, the i first posthed this topic the 18th, and just today, the 20th, i posted somethign else.

Thank you very much for your "guess", i belive you were right, i went onto Nero looking if there was an option to finish the session on my PC, i didnt find one, yet i did fin a "extra tool" called "Save Track", this tool did show me a 4GB track, so i just selected it and exported it to my hard drive like an ISO file. Hope it works, i'm still saving the big file

    Thanks...

Just experienced similar problem except my VHS to DVD copy would play in DVD player and was recognized by Pioneer 107-D burner but not by NEC 3520 burner when I went to make a second copy of the DVD recording, and I've experienced this same problem in the past. I suspect it has something to do with some media being incompatible with some devices, but that's just my best guess. Does anybody know if this is a common issue of media/device compatibility? What DVD burner has best read with wider range of media if this is a common problem?

If the original disc came from a dvd recordre then you have to use that dvd recorder to finalise the disc. You can finalise it any other way.

In my instance my disk was finalized and could be read by Pioneer 107-D but not by NEC 3520. Does anyone know which brand of DVD bunrer has best readability for various media?

  12. Nop, sorry, i was wrong... Nero ripped the file as an "iso" file so i burned it as an iso file and it didnt play anywere, but when i change the file extention to "vob" it played just fine.... so this has been the best way to get the video!
