You probably will not be able to burn at the rated speed of the PLEXTOR 760 drive.
I'd suggest a BENQ 1650 drive that only requires a PENTIUM III 500 MHZ CPU. For the price of that PLEXTOR drive you can buy 2 BENQ 1650's. -

oh wow, just read about the LightScribe. pretty impressive stuff i didn't know all this time.
how's it gonna label the disc if it doesn't have any ink?
also, is benq the only manufacture that feature this LightScribe? -

few questions:
1: i currently have the pineer dvr-105 single layer, are there any possible hack firmware that alouds it to burn dual layer dvds?
2: does the benq have dvd-r data protected password access? i believed the plextor have that feature which aloud users to set an password to their disc inorder to open the data files. -

Also the standard available DVD-ROM bitsetting feature is a nice plus. -
1. Plextools Professional comes with Plextor drives and has features to tweak the drive.
2. Plextools Professional XL comes with a price.
3. To have password protected disc, You don't need Plextool or plextools XL, there is another software they have called Secuviewer and that is free. -
What's the point of getting a plextor 760 when you can't use it's full recording speed? It's like buying maps for your car when you have navigation system already; your never going to use your maps. Why bother? Yes the BenQ 1650 and 1655 (1655 adds lightsribe) Are very solid burners from what I read and something I highly recommend. I recently bought a 1655 and I'm waiting to see how good of a DVD burner it actually is. I've been using Plextor drives for my entire PC life and I hope this switch to BenQ will be a good one.
The further away I get from the things that I care about...
the less I care about how much further away I get...
