  1. Hello. I have a 2ghz pc, running win98. I also use Adstech's DVD Xpress to connect a VCR so i can convert some home videos to DVD. I've done about 50 of them so far, with no problems. Sometimes, though, there is a strange occurance with the setup i have. There are clicks and pops coming through the external speakers i have connected to my pc. I was wondering if there are any settings i could try to alleviate the noise. Are there any settings in the BIOS which could do it? I've tried control panel, messing with the Multimedia settings, but that doesn't do the trick. The software, which is called Capwiz, doesn't show many parameters to improve the sound quality. I've even tried switching the VCR from stereo to mono, to see if that's the problem. NOPE! It didn't help any.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Does the noise exist on the recorded file as well? If it doesn't I wouldn't worry about it.

If it exists on the recorded file you can extract the audio and run it through an audio editor and use declick or depop to reduce the clicking noises. I've done that with dubs from records and it works beautifully.

If it only happens during playback and your recorded files sound clean I wouldn't worry about it. Since your recorded files are what you burn to dvd that is the main concern. You can hook up a tv to the vcr and watch it off the tv if you want to watch while you dub if the noises bother you.
