  1. Hi

I try to convert a 16:9 mpg2 video to a 4:3 mpg file with tmpgenc
When the conversion is done the output file is still in a 16:9 format (i checked with avicodec)
Anyone know why and how can i fix it...

    thanx

  2. Set the Video Arrange Method to No Margin (keep aspect ratio).

  4. DAR stands for Display Aspect Ratio. It's the aspect ratio at which the final picture is supposed to be displayed (regardless of the frame dimensions). For example, both 16:9 and 4:3 DVDs may both use a 720x480 frame. The only difference is the DAR which tells the DVD player how to display it.

If a 16:9 video is changed to 4:3 using DVDPatcher the picture will be displayed as 4:3 but everything will look tall and skinny.

    Do what I suggested earlier.

...if not everything looks short and wide when viewed at 16:9.

Wht would you want to do this ? Unless your disc has something wrong with it - which at the moment is just a guess as you haven't actually described a problem - there is no reason to change the output. If your player is set up correctly then a 16:9 disc will play correctly on a 4:3 TV.

  7. I was converting a file not a dvd
the file was not displaying properly I always need to stretch the display to be more larger because everything was looking all sweezed.
    And I also wanted a 4:3 format not a 16:9

So thanx for the suggestion DVDPatcher worked fine
