    Folks,
I am looking for a freeware piece of software that I can take as many jpg's or whatever kind of still photo file, and create a slideshow out of it that I can save to either .mpg, .avi, .mv2 or something like that. My ultimate aim is to be able to use it in TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 and attach either a .wav, .mp3, or .ac3 file to it and use it as a title on a home movie DVD. I have already tried out a few things, but they either did not work at all, or produced really crappy output. By cruddy output, I mean it would invert colors, put in static, cut the picture into 4 pieces and re-arrange them on the screen, or quickly run through all the pics in under 20 seconds, and then end, etc. I have tried the following:

    DVD slideshow GUI
    DVDPlanner
    Slide Show Movie Maker
DVD-Lab (very good, but can't export the slideshow...)

Is there anything else that will do this, and stay free. Not trialware, or anything, just free. I would like to stay away from anything Ulead or Sonic, I've tried them extensively, and it's just not worth it.

Of course it's absolutely possible that I may have done something wrong too, so I am not sure. Any ideas?

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents worth in here...I've had nothing but success making slideshows with Slide Show Movie Maker. Never used any of the other ones, cause never had a need to.
    just a thought

  3. I know DVDPlanner is still lacking in some GUI features (like bmp import which i am working on now), but obviously the output wasn't any good - could you be more specific?

Dvdslideshowgui ... good , but could be better .
Slideshow moviemaker ... all os supported under window's .. very good .
Wax2 ... more powerfull than slideshow moviemaker ...

Problem's in limitation can be overcome using batch convert utilities ... besweet support's batch encoding for audio ... xnview for batch picture graphic's conversion .

As for quality ... if you give rubbish ... you get rubbish out .

If quality was good from source , and if output is crap ... it's the setting's you had chosen for final output that were crap ... please revise output setting's ... dont complain about the product ... it work's if you use them correctly .

    -----------------

    As for dvdplanner ... I'll pass ...

Better method for source ready file's : rejig , dvdauthorgui , the gimp , and pgcedit ... no restriction's .

Becareful when using DVD-lab to create slideshow. Some DVD players may experience audio problem during slide transition.
