While i was uploading the new upgraded software (from liton) to my DVD recorder, I encounter a error (it failed). After that, I tried to start my liteon recorder but nothing works at all. Liteon recommended me to unplug the power and turn it on again, but still nothing works. Now, when I put in my DVD and it said "Error". Please advise!!
    Many thanks!!

One of the risks with firmware upgrades is that if the upgrade doesn't successfully complete, the device is redenderd inoperable. During the upgrade, the operating firmware is being replaced. The window of vulnerability occurs when this process is midstream. If it doesn't successfully complete the process, the device is left with non functional content in its internal memory. Imagine if you overwrote the operating system files on your PC's hard disc with bad or incomplete data. If you did this, your system would not continue to run or reboot. A similar thing occurs with an aborted or improper firmware update in a firmware controlled device. The firmware is the device's operating system. Without a functional operating system, the device is just a hunk of hardware. There is usually no way to fix this short of a factory repair.

At this point, there is little more to lose. I'd try to re-flash the f/w, perhaps using a different rev. of the f/w, but definitely making sure that I had appropriate f/w. Also, you don't want to try the flashing in circumstances where power interruption is a prevalent possibility.
