  1. Does anyone know of a DVD backup company that offers some kind of service in which they could make a backup of all of your DVD Movies (including Hollywood Titles)? There are a ton of companies that offer CD Ripping service for the portable MP3 music industry, and those companies do rip copy-protected music onto discs, ipods, etc...for a fee of course, and I was wondering if such a service was offered for movies instead of music? Any referrals would be appreciated. Thanks!

  3. In regards to where I live...I just wanted to be clear that I was hoping to find a company that backs-up DVD movies to a chosen storage medium...in my case, that would be a computer hard drive and not another disc...just though that would be worth noting...

I seriously doubt you can find one that would backup OFFICIAL movies. Those are copyrighted and they'd be in serious trouble if they were found, say, using dvd shrink on a dvd duplicator and charging $5 a disc. They'd be in jail in no time.

BUT I'm sure a simple net search will find you plenty of places that will copy old home video to dvd for you. I think even places like CVS offer the service through a third party.

Nah. All you'd need is to get them to sign a legal disclaimer that they are the copyright owners - then it's on their heads, and not the service provider's. The same thing happens at VHS to DVD conversion places.

jimmalenko is correct why not do this yourself?
Duplicating services are very expensive. It would be difficult to find a legit company that would touch copyrighted material.

In the US that wouldn't hold up in court,I also think you should do it yourself. Those places that rip CD's(for a fee) are technically violating DMCA because the content on CD's is digital and copyrighted.
    Maybe adam can clarify.
