    Hi,

I'm trying to convert an asf file (wmv) to avi...I tried i with winavi and tmgenc and evrytime it only gives me about 6 minutes in the outputfile while the original is 32 minutes.what I actually wan to do is rip the audio of that file..that works in virtual dub,but only with the 6 minutes short converted file.
so my question is; how can I rip the audio of he asf file and not only get 6 minues or do i have to conver first to avi??
or incase the asf file is damaged, how or with wich tool can I fix it?? (when I play the file in vlc mediaplayer it's ok)

ps: I also tried asf tools...anyway if someone can help me,I'd appreciae it very much,

    thanks in advance

Vdub can save out wav from specific point's via frame lock mode .

As for that asf ... window's movie maker may beable to convert it out ... chose dv avi ... then use the dv converter in tool's section to convert it from dv1 to dv2 ... then vdub will beable to fully access the file .

Super ... new version has "use direct show" feature ... use it , and wait .

    thanks for replying,

well..this really is weird...I tried fixing the asf file with both programs and it didn't work for some reason. In Super it gives me an error. It converts to avi but only till 6 minutes.I tried the programs on other files and that's no problem. When I play the asf file in vlc there's nothing wrong with it..it doesn't stop halfway,it plays it all the way...so I really have no idea what's going on.when I check it with gspot I see in the video section stat: Ready (199 codecs loaded).
and and under filetype:File Type: ASF (.WMA/.WMV),Mime Type: video/x-ms-asf.
this is the only info that gspot gives me.
by the way I'monly interested in the converting the audio of the asf to mp3 or wav so I can burn it on a cd in nero.

    thanks in advance
