hi
I recently got the liteon hd a740gx at walmart. I'm pretty happy with it, for the money its great. but there are a few quibbles. first it would be nice if it was able to control the tv (universal remote code) second if you want to watch something you're recording and it happens to be a timer recording the on screen display stays on, if you hit record (instead of setting up a timer record) the display can be turned off. and lastly you cannot undo a split in the edit mode if you make a mistake. ALSO the region hack (setup, exit, 2960 ...) doesn't work for me, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

hi
just want to say the secret menu hack does work on the a740gx. you have to punch in the numbers quickly (setup, exit, 2960 enter). also the recorder can copy a dvd backup made on a pc (using dvd fab decrypter, dvd shrink, nero) but takes about 24 min to copy to hard drive and 24 minutes to copy to dvdr. also copying vhs thru an old macro blocker works.

What are the advanatages of this model over the older ones (5025,5045,5055) The only thing I can see is that its supposed to be noise free?
Also do these models support 8x dual layer disk and Real ac3 ..
N.B. they sell for about 210 Great British Pounds(160gb)
NNB they charge a lot for increase's in HD size 80gb->160gb->250gb dont they?Corned beef is now made to a higher standard than at any time in history.
The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.
