I downloaded a group of RAR files. Quickpar shows them to be complete, no repair needed. Using filzip (a freeware program which has always been dependable in the past), the new AVI file appears in the directory when the extraction process begins, but as soon as the extraction process ends, the file disappears. I've checked the available space on the drive before and after extraction, and nothing changes, so the file is apparently gone and not just hiding.
I have also tried QuickZip. I open the RAR files, get a right click menu, left click on Extract To, and then nothing happens. No Browse Box, no opportunity to choose a destination for the file, no nothing. The program just sits there. Nothing seems to freeze up or anything, just nothing happens.
Can this file be saved, or is it a loss?

You may be using incompatible software. There are different versions of RAR files, and often older software can't properly read/extract the new versions.
Try using different software that is a recent release.Google is your Friend
