    Hi,

I am almost successful here at converting and burning a few movies I have on my PC.

The main movie I'm trying to burn is in avi or xvid/divx format.
I used a converter "WinAVI2DVD" or somthing, and made the .iso files.

I been messing around with so many different converters the past few days I forget wich ones I used where. Ultimately I burned the iso with ImgBurn. but two things are wrong.

First, when I test the DVD, the v-hold or somthing keeps scrolling up, and its also in black and white... the sound seemed to be clear and synced to the video, just had the video problems.
Secondly, WinAVI2DVD or whatever, has a small banner right in the middle of the picture.

I found a few other popular converters, that didnt sound like they would add this banner, but I ended up not being able to get them to work right. (went through the list on this site)

So I ask whats the best free all in on converter out there, thats easy to figure out how to use.
Also, all I should have to do is convert to iso then burn right? what this I hear about making it an Mpeg2 or somthing?
I can go into more detail if anyone has the time to help. Thanks in advance.

The first problem is easy - you have created a PAL DVD and have only NTSC playback equipment. You will have to make sure all your projects are NTSC in future.

Try DivxtoDVD (or the payware version, ConvertXtoDVD).

All the convertors you are using are, in some way, converting your avi files to mpeg2 files, and then authoring them into simple DVD structures.

You will quickly discover than no all-in-one convertor does a great job. They will do an average conversion, or create crappy menus, or have some other problem. It is the nature of the beast that they are competent at some things, poor at others, but never good at all of them.

ConvertXtoDVD is the best that I have seen/used of the one-click-wonders. It is not perfect, but it is better than WinAVI/DVD Santa etc. It can convert PAL to NTSC for you, creates very simple text menus, does multiple audio and subtitles, and does pulldown for 23.976 material. You may not know what this means, but trust me that it is a good thing, and something the others do not do. It is not free however.

If you wan't the best results you can get given your source, then you have to get your hands dirty and learn the right tools for each stage of the process, and understand what the process is.

Otherwise, cough up your $30 (or whatever it now is) and buy ConvertXtoDVD.
