    Hi all

I am new user to S2D and I have only completed a few projects so far. I am having a problem with fastg forward and skip chapter features onmy dvd player. Here is what happens:

I have 6 PAL VCDs that I wanted to burn all into a DVD. I converter files into mpg with vcdgear and prepared menu for each separate CDs. I check the preferences and chapters is set for 10 min. apart. I successfully prepared the DVD but when I played with my DVD player I can't use FF or chapter skip because pictures freezes and I have to go back to main menu again to start all over.

I was wondering if this is something to do my set up or PAL format.

    regards

  2. Which version of SVCD2DVD are you using? Can you post your log?

  3. Should have asked - Is your source in PAL format? If so, did you select "convert PAL assets to NTSC" under the preferences menu?

This is the latest version which is 2.1. I have registered last week.

    1. I am not sure if I have chosen convert to NTSC. Is it necessary though? I still want to keep it PAL format. My DVD can play PAL and also I can also take it to overseas so I can watch it there too.

    2. Where do I get the log files?

    thanks all

  6. 1. Not neccessary if your player supports it.

    2. In the logs folder under where the program is installed.

  8. What kind of player are you using? Have you tried the DVD on another player, or in a software player (on your PC)?

this is interesting, because this sounds exactly like the problems i have been having with my vcd to dvd conversion. the finished dvd wont skip forward, or scan forward - the picture freezes and only the audio plays.

but, weirdly, i've used a whole different set of tools to get there. my VCD's are NTSC, and i've kept them as such despite being in a PAL country. i've stripped the Elementary files out using Tempgenc demuxing tools. re-encoded the audio as AC3 with ffmpeggui, and used DVDauthorGUI to create a basic (no menu) DVD, with chapter points. the resulting DVD files exhibit the same problem in PowerDVD on my PC as they do burnt to a disc and in my Samsung DVD player, which tells me that it's not a burning problem.

so far i've had no joy finding out the cause of this. i fed the M1v file thru VCDgear to try and 'fix' it once, but all it did was add an extra 200mb onto my file size.

if ANYBODY has ANY idea what causes this problem, PLEASE POST!

    thanks!

    I attached the .IFO files.

BTW, I tried the movie on my PC and there is no problem with Fast Forwarding and Chapter Skipping.

    thanks

I've been having exactly the same problem with my encodes as well. I get the audio stream using VDubMod's full conversion mode (and convert it to AC3 using FFMPEGGUI), and feed the original avi to TMPGEnc with settings as suggested in this post to get the m2v file. Then I create the DVD with DVDAuthorGUI. Neither the m2v file nor the final DVD can be fast-forwarded.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  17. If you are not using SVCD2DVD (the subject of this forum) for your project, you should probably post your question here:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewforum.php?f=30

as it will be more relevant to the process you are using.
