    also i read that u can record svhs et with these.. i plan to get jvc hr 9*** svhs with tbc.. so my question is if i record et with a svhs will the quality be like a svhs? (btw can i record svhs sp with these?) i plan to transfer from dvd btw.. thanks

    The best VHS tapes you can get, as far as I'm concerned. Been doing S-VHS-ET on them for many years now. Hard to find those EHG's these days, stock up. One of the few tapes that retains crisp video quality, with almost zero tape flaws (dropouts, static, etc) and clean small grain.

    dope appreciate the quick reply bro (ive been viewing this forum for some time and you definitely know your shit). ive never owned a s-vhs deck before, can you explain to me under what settings i should record to get the best quality (ima be using the JVC HR-S9800U s-vhs) thanks.

    CALIBRATION = OFF
    STABILIZER = OFF
    PICTURE MODE = EDIT (not NORMAL, not SOFT, not SHARP)
    AUDIO = HIFI
    TBC OFF
    S-VHS-ET ON

    That should do it for RECORDING.

    LS, you and I are in complete agreement!

    KFatal357, I would recommend that you "drill the hole" and test the performance as an SVHS tape. At SP, they worked great for me on my 7600 / 9600 VCRs.

    if i do that will i be able to play them back on regular vhs players? also if i record in et mode (no hole drilling) will playback quality on all vhs be better?

    Do not use SVHS or ET if you want to maintain VHS compatibility.
