    Hi everyone,
    Hope you're all well.

I am trying to capture video from a JVC camcorder using USB and MovieMaker.

When I click on capture from device, it detects the device but then says 'the device has too many interfaces to fire events from'

and that's it, I can't get any further.

Can anyone explain what this means please?

    Thanks a lot.

As baldrick rightly says, Moviemaker is for making movies, USB on a camcorder is for transferring stills. If you ask it nicely you may be able to get it to transfer video in very poor webcam type quality, but to do the job as intended you need to use Firewire.

  4. As mentioned, USB isn't what you need. Firewire, AKA iLink, IEEE-1394 cable connection is required. I know Richard already told you this so I'm just giving some more of the names you'll see "Firewire" called.

Also, if this is new to you, search for "Firewire" in the DV forum....this same question comes up about weekly and often gets "questioned to death". Many camcorder manuals say to use the USB connection, so mmany with this issue want to argue the firewire "answer", as is reasonable. Don't bother ... it's all there with a simple search now that you know what to look for.

You'll also want to pay special attention to the discussion od "type 1" and "type 2" DV and how it pertains to WMM.

    Good luck.
