    Hello,

I have a Trutech TT1620 DVD Recorder that I used to copy a family function from DV (camcorder) to DVD+R. Of course people wanted copies so when I inserted the DVD I made into my computer, I saw that it has a VIDEO_TS and a VIDEO_RM folder. I copied these files to my HD and burned them using Nero Express.

My problem is that the copies will not go to the main Title menu like the original DVD. It will "auto play" or just sit there until you press the play button a few times. My DVD player on my computer (Power DVD) will not play the disks at all stating "Error: Unkown Format". I even thought about re-authoring the disk with new menus, but DVD Lab doesn't like the VOB files either. Anyone have some suggestions as to why the copies won't play like the original?

  2. I would try ripping the DVD with DVD Decrypter in the ISO Read mode. Then using the ISO Write mode to burn that ISO file for a new DVD copy.

  3. first play = play main movie?

It would probably be better to re-author them using something like tmpgenc dvd author, (as a standard dvd), which can accept video_rm folders

The electronic components of the power part adopted a lot of Rubycons.

  4. Do I understand correctly that you just want to make an exact copy of the DVD?
Use disc to disc copy in Nero.
Or use Isobuster to make a disc image copy and burn from that.
If the original disc works an exact disc image copy should work exactly the same.
In theory, if you used the Nero DVDvideo template and dragged all the files in the Video_vts folder over, it should have worked. But since it didn't try disc to disc copy instead.

Yes, exactly right. I copy the same exact files from the VIDEO_RM and VIDEO_TS folder and burn them as data using Nero Express, however I do not get the same playback result as with the original DVD. Is the copy missing some hidden files? I'm not exactly sure.

I think I will try to create an ISO file of the original recording, and then burn it that way. I will let you know how it turns out.

  6. Disc image copy is the way to go.
There are several possible errors that could have happened before. Data disc is not enough, it has to be the right UDF file structure. Nero express is not as precise. Full Nero has the correct DVD Video template. But even so, some DVD recorders make their files off spec, so that causes problems if you try to recompile them. You don't need those Video_RM files for a DVD. Those are just for the recorder's functions.

I used DVD Decrypter in ISO mode and ripped the original DVD to my HD. I then burned the ISO with Nero Express and got an exact copy with menus and all! Thanks for your help.
