I have some 16:9 (853x480) avi file and when I convert to 16:9 mpeg2 for dvd I can't use format 720x480 (I use TmpgExpress) : the output frame has black border at side. To get full frame I can only use 704x480 format. As my source is 853x480 I don't know why I can't use 720x480 format as commercial dvd. Any suggestion?
    Thanks

    a. Does it matter ?
    b. You could just encode it as 704 x 480 - that's legal and compliant.
    c. That's the price you pay for using an encoder that makes decisions for you.

You are right, you should be able to use 720 x 480, however 704 x 480 is closer to the actual aspect ratio of the source, so tmpgenc express is in fact correct. You can verify this through FitCD or my resize calculator.

    Thanks guns1inger,
I have used your RC2 for long time and it is better for me, because FitCD often makes me mess. Iam lazy!
