Whenever I try to convert form wmv to avi in MPEG Streamclip I get the message "Audio decoding error".

When I select "no sound" under audio encoding, it encodes the video with no problem.
I've tried all the audio codecs and they give me the same error.

How do I get it to encode the audio? Or is that a restriction of Flip4mac Standard.

I thought I only needed Flip4Mac Pro to encode wmvs. I thought regular Flip4Mac was ok if you just want to view or convert.

Obvious Question: Is the Audio AC3 or is it WMA?
Try playing the avi in VLC, and post back what it
does ( plays/doesn't play), and what it says
wehn you Get Info on the file in VLC
( What the Streams are defined as).

VLC says that it's WMA audio. Do I need a WMA codec or something?
VLC won't play the video stream because of the WMV3 video but it plays the audio.

Flip4Mac plays both audio and video just fine in Quicktime.

I tried to converting with ffmpegx and I got a lot of frame skip.
Does anyone know why that is?

Now I just convert the video to avi with MPEG Streamclip (without any sound), convert the audio to mp3 with ffmpegx and then mux them back together.

The video converts perfectly with MPEG Streamclip. Is it a better algorithm perhaps?

That or it automatically does invert mapping,
something you have to MANUALLY tell
ffmpegx to do when converting .wmv files.
