Subwoofer cable - connected from the subwoofer output of the surround receiver to, guess what, the subwoofer.
Coaxial cable - connected from the digital audio output of the DVD player to the digital input of the surround sound receiver.
Component (yellow, green & blue) - connected from the DVD to HDTV
Phono plugs - connected from the audio out of the DVD player to the audio input of the HDTV along with the component cables (in case I do not want to turn on the receiver)
At least these are the terms used in the manual and/or written on the back of the equipment.
Question - quality aside, are these cables basically the same and can be interchanged? They have the same RCA connectors. Just do not know if they are different inside.
Thanks.

Without seeing them it's difficult to say, but if the cables look the same then they likely are. Basically it's just copper wire which may be in a coaxial (shielded) or side-by-side arrangement.
