Does anyone know where I can buy them? I've seen many websites that teach you how to make them, but I really don't want to do that. I need the ones similar to the ones used in the films so then I can add the lightsaber effects to them. If anyone can provide me with sites, as I've been searching for quite some time, it would really help. I'm doing this for a school project so I would need to know as soon as possible.
They sell FX lightsabers on ebay that light up and make sound effects, I don't need those kind.

Hasbro produce cheap ones - basically a handle with a telescoping tube for a blade. My 7 year old got one for his birthday. Any toy shop should carry them or be able to get one for you. The handles are surprisingly chunky and man-sized for a kid's toy.

C'mon. Haven't you ever got to the point where the real world is so scary it's just easier to come and obvious and often dumb questions from strangers in a forum that use your brain or get off your arse ?

You can buy authentic ones at www.starwars.com. Just do a net search if you want to build one from scratch. Just get some metal casing or maybe pvc tubing and cut to size. Add some buttons and switches and you got a lightsaber handle.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
If you do build them be careful about the blade if you are going to "fight" with them - use a 3/4 inch wooden dowel as they are a lot more forgiving if you hit someone than the metal pipe they used when filming the movies.
If you want to make the hilts yourself I suggest checking out www.theforce.net - the fan film section has some great guides and advice: http://www.theforce.net/fanfilms/tutorials.asp
Making a lightsaber isnt' really all that difficult, much more satisfying than buying one, and can be alot cheaper than buying (a realistic/non-plastic toy) one"Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man, and let history make its own judgment."

But if he really does want to just buy them, check out www.parksabers.com - they have some cool Lightsabers."Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man, and let history make its own judgment."
