  1. Have had good success, now on 3rd refill set, using original cartridges.

Refill kit and the chip resetter now sold at Staples.

Instructions with kit more or less accurate, with one major exception. The plugs with the kit are just a pressure fit, nothing to hold them in. Trial and error developed a workable, simple method.

After filling the cart, insert and remove the plug. Use a paper towel to clean around the hole. Repeat until NO ink is forced out by inserting the plug. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT. The surface must be dry.

Use some silicone sealant, put a small amount about half a grain of rice on a paper clip or toothpick. Put a small amount around the hole, and some under the cap on the plug. Avoid getting any in the hole or on the shaft. Insert the plug, then twist it a half turn or so. This is to spread the sealant evenly. Then put some more silicone on your fingertip, 3 or 4 times the original amount. Smooth this on top and around the edges of the plug. Finally, take a strip of Scotch tape about 3 to 4 inches, and put this across the plug and down the sides of the cartridge. This is to push the sealant around the plug and make a good, airtight seal.

After resetting the chip, you're ready to go. Change all cartridges at the same time, if you haven't done the waste ink mod, do it. You will be impressed at the amount of ink wasted. 2 on/off cycles and 3 cleaning cycles put a measured 12 ml of ink in the waste bottle.

The tape and silicone come off fairly cleanly, remove the rest before removing the plug for the next refill.

Use the SSC utility to reset the waste counters, do this BEFORE you get the blinking light problem. I have this on my older printer, (I have two), multiple resets, no fix. If anyone has solved this problem, please post. What I get is a few pages, then a jam indication when it is not jammed, then both red lights blinking. Interesting that it will reliably print a nozzle check with no error, but other pages will only print one or two before starting the error indicator. Newer printer is working fine, so the refills are not the problem.

Refilled Epson carts still working great.
