Preparing a DVD with family scenes, I want to display quickly dates (i.e years only) from 1926 to 2006 superimposed with the film I prepared with Adobe Premiere. Is it any easy way to get such counter in video format?

You could use subtitles. Take a look at our Subtitle forum for setting them up.

I am not a great specialist, but do you think that subtitles can be generated automatically and run over a part or the entire picture?

If you are trying to sequentially date the different scenes...and not committed to
    superimposing...
Might it be easier to make the equivalent of title cards (like they did in the silent film days)
and add them at the beginning of each appropriate segment?

my actual aim is to show pictures and scenes quite quickly, first ones dated 1926, and other dates closer and closer to nowadays, and make an effect of time running by displaying the years 1926, 1927 etc until the last scene of 2006 where we are; this is the beginning of my film and such sequence will be less than 40 seconds long.
