  1. my OS is 10.3.9, and this is in Toast 7.01 and an update to 7.02

a while ago I imported an audio file from a tape ( analog) into CD spin doctor and filtered them then burned a CD ( with Toast or automatically from CD spin, don't recall) since then when I open Toast and try to make an audio CD even thoughtt I change the lable from " My CD' to what I want, and in the panel in says " bla bla.aif" when I burn it it then mounts at the older title AND audio file from the Spin doctor time.

I rarerly make audio CD's but need to fix this.

I made a movie with iMovie from a DV tape, then asked to save it as an audio file after saving the video file itself, and it created a .aif file with the proper new name.

then I opend Toast, both 7.01 and then after upgrading to 7.02, and draged the audio file to the "audio" selection, changed the "MyCD" to the new title, the file .aif was the proper file name, then clicked the "burn" it was "writing" for a while, then burned the audioCD, but it always come up BOTH the CD title and the file in the CD as the old Doctor name.

it plays as the new file, but its now worthless to me as all the audio CD's I make are labeld the same indepedent of the conttent and my new names.

    Pleeeeeese help!

    cheers

I didn't think Audio CDs supported volume names? Except virtual names by use of CDDB or FreeDB.

  3. I might not have been clear.

the "CD" itself has a name you set in the "my CD" area above the panel with the tracks. Ive set this in the standard fashion.

in the lower 'box' are the tracks. they have the name of the dragged and dropped file I made with iMove.

in my case as its a lecture, its one track.

I then burn and the result CD on reinsertion in the computer has the old CD name from the SpinDoctor, and the old file name from the Spindoctor.

    help any?

    cheers

You were quite clear. The names you see are not stored on the CD, but in a local cache file, where I think CD Spin Doctor might have stored those names earlier. On re-mounting the CD, the CD name and the audio tracks get their name from that database file, or else -if iTunes is launched- from Gracenote CDDB over the internet (and then stored in that cache file).

That cache file is /Users/.../Library/Preferences/CD Info.cidb . Delete it (or even move it), and your system will forget earlier entries.

  5. well i thought it might be someting liike that.

so I tried your suggetiong and moved the file CD info.cidb out of the pref and then open toast and did the ususal again.

this time I got after carefully labeling the CD to my satisfaction and burning:

'Audio CD' and for the track '1 Audio Track'

so better but no cigar just quite yet. it doesn't seem to want to call the file the actual name of the file itself ( Toast, that is)

    more ideas?

if no new news tomorrow, i could trash the toast app and reinstall and try that but then Id have to dig up the serial # which is in some drawer somewhere.

    how weird is this, Huh?

cheers and hope more brain storms comming.

To edit the cache file for one specific album, you could use iTunes. The CD should show up in the list on the left. The album name and track names are editable there, and will be written back to the cache file for future reference on that system. After giving proper names, re-mount the CD for changes to take effect in the Finder and other apps.
