so the problem is, whenever i convert a movie(usually an .avi) to SVCD(mpeg) or DVD format using WinAVI Video Converter, it converts fine. the converted file plays just fine on the computer. its when i burn the SVCD or DVD that it plays choppy as hell on my home DVD player, although for some odd reason it plays fine on the computers DVD player. the sound is perfect on the home DVD player, its just that the video framerate is choppy and laggy. the problem isn't the media, as its 2 kinds of media and plays fine on the PC, and its not my burner, because i tried with my LG burner on my PC and my Sony DVD burner on my laptop. also, when i rip an actual DVD movie and burn it to a DVD-R, it plays fine on my home DVD player as well. so what gives? why do converted SVCD\DVD movies have crappy\laggy framerate on my home dvd player? this is a very annoying problem, any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance!

Being able to play it with a software player is not always a good indication that it will do the same on a standalone player. If the conversion includes a framerate conversion such as PAL<>NTSC, that might explain it also.

Another thing that could cause it, too high a bitrate. Finally WinAVI doesn't have a very good reputation around here. You might try a program like DivxToDVD or similar. Or use the individual programs to encode and author.

I think vcdeasy is one of the simple ones to burn s/vcds.
