    Hi,

Great site here, well done to all involved

Is it wise to make master copies (for long term sake) of DV footage on to a hard drive or DVD? As for Software, will Pinnacle 10 do all needed for home movies? It seems reasonable at £35.

    Thanks

It is always a good idea to have backup copies of DV footage (or of any data that you care about).

What kind of home movies do you want to do? Pinnacle seems to do a lot though I've seen lots and LOTS of posts about it crashing. Check the "Tools" choice on the left side of your screen and read the reviews under "Video Editors (Advanced)"

Oh, and in the future, it's best to use a title that tells us what's in your message. Even "Backup and Pinnacle question" is better than "First Post!"

Long tern secure storage would require you to have multiple copies on several different types of media in a few different locations.

    Welcome.
