Hi,
I tried to look around, if I find an answere in this forum,
but not too much.
If this question was already answered, please, point me to it.
The question is at the bottom, just telling how far I am.
I use GSpot to check my encoded videos, compression rate, overhead, etc.
I'm still trying to find a good setting to encode.
XVid, 5-Pass, adjusted the MPGE.txt Inter Matrix from 16 to 20, etc.
Delivers pretty good results.
mp4alsRM23win.exe did't work for me yet, but maybe it's the way, XMPEG
rips the direct steam copy. lame encodes only wav files, too.
Just distortion when I try and convert the ac3-Files.
Btw, anybody not tried to use the lame ``shaping & psycho acoustic algorithms'',
before vlc does it? Awesome, much clearer sound, but have to try mp4 audio lossless coding.
So while I'm still trying to use lame, gspot show me ``48000Hz 192 kb/s tot, stereo (2/0)''
for my converted audio track.
What does the abbreviation stand for?
(not a nice word in german)
Thanks

Probably "total", "in total".
Used particularly when there are differing elementary streams and each stream/element has its own bitrate, so the Total would be the sum of the individual elements plus some possible carrier/container overhead.
(Certainly not "dead")

GSpot is pretty outdated, even though it has not become entirely useless. Currently most people prefer MediaInfo.
Not sure of what you meant by "mp4alsRM23win.exe didn't work for me yet".
Just keep in mind that ALS is supported only by the MP4 container thus far.
And if you want to use it together with Xvid-encoded video, MP4Box is the only multiplexer available for the task. -
Total, that could be.
Didn't think of that one.
GSpot is pretty good.
It even shows the overhead produced.
Not much, can't remember, less than 10Mb,
or less than 15Mb, Video ans Audio together,
on a 2Gb Video file.
But as Marsia said, pretty old.
Last Version, 2.70a, is from 2007.
Still shows information to the installed XVid
Codec.
Didn't need the mp4 Container yet.
DVDx converts my Blu-Rays to MP4.
But afterwards I usually reconvert them
to AVI. AVI has some Problems with
multiple audio tracks, ans I'm just beginning
to show interest in subtitles, wich as far as I found
out toll now are only possible in a (or two) seperate
files, but AVI is easy, can't think of, where it can't
be played.
Btw. the last XMEG version, 5.0.3, dates from 2003.
My coding dass.
Got me away from downloading from the Internet.
About the mp4ALSrm23 executable, I found it on The
Moving Pictures Expert Groups Webpage.
It's a converter ans still in development as they wrote.
Less than an Mb, ans is supposed to convert to the MP4
lossless codec. Don't know, Version 7 or so.

Please excuse the ``T but as'', writing on my mobile
and can't scroll.
Genious machines these.
Ah, before you make fun of a program from 2003,
XMPEG has the best deinterlace filter I know of.

Hi,
my smartphone is, still, at the time my only
Internet connection, so please excuse any typos.
Yea, it's true, i still usw Software from the 2000s.
I told you so.
Maybe I shouldn't taunt so mich.
Didn't know about QTGMC,
and read something about bobbers?
Have to try that out.
My, officialy bought copy of ``Meet the Feebles''.
is really nasty. PAL (720x576, 25fps).
Everything moving drags a bad shadow.
Tried DVDx, the 2.x Version, XvVid 1.3, wich is not
THE Standard for MPEG4, but I think it is save to
say, they know what they are doing.
Think they still work with ``Shift Odd/Even Field'',
XMPEG with ``Blend'", and has excellent results.
Just not on ``Meet the Feebles'' as wished.
Have to look out for ``QTGMC'' and bobbers,
as soon, as my Internet connection works again.
