  1. Here is an update to my Gillette Fusion post from last week:

I got 5 shaves out of the blade before I began getting razor burn. I think I'll get one more shave before needing a new blade. While it does last a lot longer than disposable blades they cost quite a bit more. I'm not really sure if the cost is worth while.

6 shaves at just over $3 per blade is about 50 cents per shave. I can't remember the price per razor of the disposables I normally get so at this point I don't really know what the better deal is. I do like the shave of the fusion, I just wish the blades were a little cheaper...

    Now for my review. OOOOOOOOOOUCH.

Ok a bit more then that. I got one today and hated it. Maybe if you shave every day with it but if you wait 2 days then shave it is NOT as smooth as you said. I felt like it was grabbing the hair and pulling it out.

Now I will it admit. its a freaking close shave, but when I'm done with this thing I'm done with it. Not worth it to me.

I'll stick with my Good News.

  3. I won't be buying any replacement blades for it.

I have been thinking about getting a Merkur Futur for some time and finally broke down and placed an order for one tonight The razor was $50, but replacement blades are way cheaper and from what I have read last a lot longer. We shall see! LOL Here is the one I got http://www.classicshaving.com/catalog/item/522941/190429.htm

I have spent more money on shaving gimmicks than you can shake a stick at! I'm in search of the best shave available for the best price available. Wish me luck on my journey?

I have a Mach 3 (turbo if I'm feeling rich).

I get about 10 shaves out of it... at least.

And I'm a hairy dude, just FYI.

I wouldn't buy any blade that couldn't last for at least two weeks.

I buy the mach3 turbo blades and wwhile they are expensive, if you dry them off after every use i get about a month out of each blade, which is bugger all per use.

I used to have one of those and used Wilkinson Sword blades with it - smooth, but not as smooth as Gillette Mach 3 with a good quality shave cream/gel such as Clinique, Noxzema or Kings. If it has aloe, all the better.
    Regards,

Because they hurt me. I told you I'm hairy.

  11. I just had my first shave with the Merkur Futur and so far I'm liking it. I had it set on the safest (least close) setting and it was still as close as any shave I have used, even the fusion. I got one minor nick on my chin, but no razor burn It takes a little longer to shave because you have to be a little more careful, but I think once I get used to it I'll be able to go faster. It's really built solid. Feels heavy for a razor, but it's solid stainless steel. This thing should last forever!

Replacement blades only cost $5 for 10 so this sucka should pay for itself in just a few months

Once I get a little more practice I think I'll try shaving my whole head with it.

Women who use men's razors should get b**ch slapped. I have been able to tell EVERY single time my wife has used my razor. Heck I could tell if anyone used my razor. My skin is that sensitive. I get about 3-5 uses per blade. Expensive, but it beats having gashes all over my face. My hair is pretty coarse and it will ruin a blade fast. I also grow out fast so my wife kisses me every other day because she can't stand how sharp and rough my face is after about 16 hours. The fusions are not a very good shave. They do litterally pull the hairs out. Unless you have it flush against you skin most of the time, you only have about 3 blades shaving anyway. With the curves around the upper lip...... let me just say you won't get all 4 blades against the skin there. uch: I use the MachSpeed Turbo and those work beautiful. Before the I used the sensor. When MachSpeed came out I practically fell on the floor and prayed for thanks.

I've also been asked or suggested electric razors. Now I'm a brave soul. I have very few fears, but I cannot have electric clippers or razors around my head. I left a hair shop with a really bad hack job because I got right up out of a chair and left once they touched a set of clippers to trim above my ear. My wife tried cutting my hair with clippers and had a hard time restraining me just to give me another hack job. now we have these shears that are manual clippers. they look similar to the ones that are electric, except you squeeze the handle to clip. It spins a counter weight and cuts smoothly without a motor. Paid $95 for the thing for some place in Japan. Other than manual scissors & razors, it's Only thing I'll ever use on my head (without requiring a substantial restraining device, anesthetic, and/or an a**kicking to the person use used it on me).

A lot of us have just given up on getting that perfect smooth shave. Takes too much work, costs to much, and always falls flat on the promise. A little rough isn't so bad after all.

You could always get lasered like a lady.

I thought about laser removal. My hair doesn't evenly grow under my cheek bone and upper neck. I even got quotes on it, but we moved from NY before I even setup an appointment. You have to go for like 3-6 treatments, but it never grows back. I was gonna get it sculpted so only my sideburns would grow and my goatee area. Everything else just totally lasered off. They even do certain areas on men's ears. Maybe in about another 30 years for me.
