  1. Hi, I am trying to convert video files for my kids NPower Fusion player. It supports WMV video, 320x240 resolution. Nothing I convert will play (Format not supported). I've found one program that supports the Fusion player, it's called 'Pocket DVD Wizard', I've only tried the demo version (limited to 5 minutes of video) and the converted video plays fine. So I checked the video's stats using GSpot, got the resolution, video bitrate, audio bitrate, and video and audio codecs, and used these exact settings in another video conversion program that I use for my Zune (using the generic WMV format) and made sure all the settings match. The converted video has the same exact properties as the video converted with Pocket DVD Wizard, but this one won't play.

I loaded both videos into GSpot for comparison. Every single field matches exactly, except for ONE setting... Under 'User Data / Metadata', the video that WILL play correctly says 'VideviceConformanceTemplate:SP', and the video that WON'T play says 'VideviceConformanceTemplate:MP@LL'. Could this be enough to make my video unplayable? If so, does anyone have a solution?

If I can't convert files myself, I guess I'll have to buy the Pocket DVD Wizard program, but I really want to be able to do these myself. Anyone else out there with a Fusion player had any luck converting video files?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I know it has been quite some time since posted this, but I was wondering if you ever figured out how to get videos on the npower without using the DVD Wizard?

I know this is an old topic but I got a couple of these for my girls for Christmas this year. I did some online searching and some testing and found the settings that will work.

DVantrease has the key in his post above. SP vs MP@LL. It appears that the device is looking for Simple Decoder Complexity.

After using DVD Decrypter and Virtualdub to make my avi files, I ended up with some fairly large files. I wanted to keep the file size as low as possible so I can get more on the device's internal memory. Files ended up about 30mb.

Here are my settings for Windows Media Encoder

Audio - CBR Windows Media Audio 9.2
Video - CBR Windows Media Video 9
    Target bit rate of 192Kbps

Select the target bit rate and click edit.
    Audio format - 48kpbs, 32kHz, stereo CBR
    Video size - 320x240
    15 fps
    video bit rate 137Kbps
change decoder complexity to SIMPLE (this is the important step!)

    Hope it helps!

You are THE MAN for figuring this out! I got one for my daughter and was doing everything right up to the SIMPLE step.

    Here's something, though...

Why are you using VirtualDub to go to an AVI? So you can edit it? I saw a similar thing on a post on the NPower Fusion Support Group page. The author was using DVDDecrypter and then AutoGK to make the AVI. Unless you need to edit the AVI, I suggest skipping that step. When you get the VOB from DVDDecrpter, change the file extension from VOB to MPG and it will load into WMEncoder.
