  1. Hi.I need make a ISO of a dvd video,
the disc have a file called VOB_DATA.LAY" (192 kb).
When I tried of make a ISO with ddvdecrypter,
the software stuck at the 99 %
    the burner don't read
this is a capture in jpg of that problem

I tried of copy manually the files of the
VIDEO_TS folder,to the HD.I can copy all the files ,except
the file in question,VOB_DATA.LAY" (192 kb).
I got a error mesage "can't copy VOB_DATA:Can't read the disc or source file".

The generous person who sent me the disc (from another country),
sent me other copy in replacement.
But the same problem ocurred. So, isn't a physical problem,I guess.

This is strange, because, the two discs play fine.

    I re-installed dvdecrypter,and I tried of make the ISO again,but the same
    problem ocurred.

The disc have another file called JTDVSP00.LAY (1.06 kb)
Someone ,please, would help me? or at least
would tell me what is the function of this
    files .LAY ?
(I guess LAY means "layout" or something like that)

    Thanks in advance.

According to all the notes I found, it's a file generated by DVD Studio Pro on the Mac, and should NOT be on the DVD at all. Supposedly it's an internal file generated by the app, and if you burn the DVD directly from the app, those files will not be written, but some people burn with Toast, and Toast just writes everything you tell it to... Including those extra files.

  3. Good information,my friend,thanks...
...Ahhh...So I guess I would reconstruct the dvd
    without that *.lay files.

The other info that I should tell is that I received a 2 dvd set.
(two parts of a same movie)
Only The disc 1 have that *.lay files. Is strange that the second disc don't
    have the .lay files.

I can create the iso for the second disk without problems.
but I can't for the first disc.

Anyway,I'll reconstruct the dvd without that *.lay files...

Very Thanks kschang for help me!!!

    Cheers
