How do I burn an Image file (.iso) over 8.5GB???

I have an .iso file, that is 8.76 GB (8.36 when I mouse-over it). It won't fit on my Verbatim 8.5 DL's. Is there anyway I can split this image and put it on 2 disks? What can I do with this thing?

Did you ACTUALLY try burning it to a dvd+r DL with something like imgburn or are you just going by what it say's is the capacity stamped on the blank disc

It's kind of like when someone ask's how to put more than 120 min on a single layer dvdr. because after all it is stamped on the single layer dvdr's that they hold 120min of video :P

But if my thought process is off and it is slightly over sized, you could always shrink it a tad with something like DVD Shrink.

Yes, I actually tried, and it was with ImgBurn. IMG burn told me the .iso was 8.6GB and the Disk had 8.2GB on it. I have burned images before that appeared to be slightly larger than disk capacity, but once the program had the image loaded, it was able to burn it properly.

Me thinks your demeaning and condescending tone has gotten you called an a-hole more than once. What in gawds name can DVD Shrink do for me? That is for copying/compressing DVD disks, not image files! Don't even post if you're not going to help.

Anyway, I still need help with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is the content of the ISO? If happens to be a movie then you can use Shrink. Otherwise you could possibly open the ISO and remove something to make it smaller.

If this is burning just for storage purposes, another option is to archive it into segments with winrar or 7zip, then burn. (e.g. 2x 4.3GB segments or 8x1GB segments.... you get the idea)

You haven't mentioned what the ISO is. If it's a DVD movie DVD Shrink does in fact accept 'images' as input.

How precisely do you end up with an ISO that is larger than an optical discs anyway? It's either not really an image, or is some sort of archive file kept on a hard drive only.

Maybe the virus payload that came with that movie you downloaded made it a little too big to fit on a DL disc.

Burn it to Blu-ray, multi sesssion and you still have enough space to hold your ENTIRE porn collection.
Burn it to dual sided dvd ram (2 x 4.6gb) so split into two halves using [s:59c93651a4]notepad[/s:59c93651a4]
Or save it off to a DLT tape drive for authoring
Or chuck it in de bin

I am stating what should be very obvious to some of you, but it's really not all that hard to create an ISO larger than will fit on a DL disc.

1) Rip BluRay to hard drive.
2) Set bit rate too high and create output too big to fit on DL disc.
3) Use ImgBurn or other tool to create ISO.

My suggestion to the original poster would be to mount the ISO with Daemon Tools. I am assuming it's not in DVD format. If it is, rip the mounted ISO with DVD Decrypter, DVD Fab, whatever. Use DVD Shrink or some similar tool to shrink it. If it's not DVD format (ie. big WMV file for example), just split it in half using an appropriate tool and burn to 2 single layer DVDs. We definitely don't have enough info to go on here other than to make generalized recommendations, but given as how the original poster probably "acquired" something that he may not have legal right to, perhaps that is for the best that his post is vague.

Try opening the image file (Copy it to your hard drive first), with dvd shrink if it opens fine then just shrink it a little.

Simple stuff first
