  1. this is my first time using this software, and all my files are DVD'D (i used WinAVI to convert from AVI to DVD). so i clicked on "Add DVD video" option and put in my video files. so far so good. now i complete my menu and go to output. When I click begin output, it says something like "blah-blah folder cannnot read VIDEO\TS\VTS_01_0.IFO"
i tried other folders, but none worked. what should i do to fix this? I'm thinking of re-converting the DVD files back into AVI files then converting back into MPEG-2 files then retrying it.

Winavi is not held in high regard around here, I suspect that's your problem.

Try just adding the VOB files using the 'add file' button. Worth a shot, no sense degrading the quality by converting two more times.

I wouldn't do this - two extra conversions, which means a lot of time, hard drive space and a surefire way to diminish quality.

I'd suspect that WinAVI has fooked up the IFO file(s). You may find http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/test.htm#ifoedit helpful - prior to a reinstall of windows I had to do this every time I used convertxtodvd before TMPGEnc DVD Author would accept the files.
    If in doubt, Google it.
