The hi-speed Firewire800 interface, does this have more advantages for importing digital video into a computer or not, is it recommended to buy such a interface or not, or do i stick with my firewire 400 speed one?

At this stage there is no advantage, as firewire DV transfers are done in real time for consumer kit anyway. FW800 is still pretty thin on the ground over here, so I don't have any word on compatability with FW400 cameras. Unless you have a compelling need for FW800 for other kit, you might save your money for the moment a buy a standard generic FW card.

FW 800 is still a little expensive. Unless you have a FW 800 Device (Drive, etc.) hooked to the interface, you would likely see no difference in transfer speeds. As stated, DV would still be at DV transfer rates. FW 800 is supposed to be completely backwards compatible with FW 400 devices.
