I was making backups just fine with my setup(dvd43/nero recode2/nero express) when all of a sudden along comes Charlie Chocolate....dvd43 worked fine...recode2 ripped it fine...I burned the copy and put it in my dvd player and it didn't do anything...actually if I pushed play on the remote it would lock the dvd player up entirely requiring an unplugging of the unit to reset it. I tried using fixvts and did what I had read to do (drag n' drop the first vob file into fixvts, uncheck all boxes, and click entire movie) and it did it's thing, but when i went to burn the copy it was telling me something was wrong, and was I sure I wanted to continue, and I said yes I want to continue with the burn, and the movie did not work...did the same thing it was doing before. What are the exact steps you take after drag n' dropping the vob file into fixvts? Maybe I did something wrong at this step.

Basically my question is...can I get past arccos and others, with my current setup without having to go through a phD program in video........or do I just need to start over with new software that is guaranteed (for now, at least) to get my backups made?

My take on this is that if it rips good, then the the "Fair Use obstacles" are gone.
I backed up my European version of Charlie with just DVDShrink. US version may have other measures taken against Fair Use.
