  1. I acquired a JVC gr-sxm250u VHS-C today that does not show up an image when recording. I am not interested in fixing this unit for video taping, but the unit does have a built in TBC and CNR, so, I am wondering if it's possible to it as a pass through unit in some way.

It doesn't look like it can be used normally for this, I only see an AV and s-video output, but I have no problem attempting to modify it

    Any insights or suggestions?

    Thanks.

  3. I can get into the menu with no problem. There's not much to test though. The CCD on the camera is shot but the playback is fine. Unfortunately it only has outputs no inputs so I am hoping one of the techies here has some ideas.

I think it would be very difficult to install some sort of input if it doesn't have one. The circuitry is just not there to convert composite video, for example, to something the camera circuitry can accept. If it had A/V input and DV output, it might be worth it, IMO. You might look at Ebay and see if you can find a DV camcorder that has a similar problem, but has passthrough. It would be a lot easier.

  5. I know you are right Redwudz, but I figured on the off shot it might be an interesting project. I have the soldering skills but lack the electronic engineering know-how.

Actually my JVC DVL-310, I believe, can do pass through but it's usually in the office or the car and I can never be bothered to try it. Maybe when I replace it (hopefully this summer) I will relegate it to conversion box.

    Cheers.
