    Hi folks,

I have a philips TV/VHS portable which plays NTSC VHS tapes ok.

I want to record this to my pc - however when I try it comes out
black and white or a distorted picture with slight colouring.

I have a EZMAKER Card and a Canopus card - both give the same results

the software i mainly use is NEODVD v5, similar results with other software
    packages.

Is there a way of recording what is termed as PAL60 via my tv unit to the pc
satisfactorily. If so, what do I need.

As a note recording PAL is fine.

i want to record NTSC VHS to my pc - problem is it is using PAL60 - which is an NTSC emulation. I get recordings in B&W or very marginal colour. Looking for a solution.

The problem is that PAL60 isn't really PAL. The combo TV plays it OK because it is built to. You may find not all external TVs would play it back correctly either.

If you have a DV camera with analogue input/passthrough you could try feeding it though that. Otherwise you need a VHS player with true NTSC output.

I typed PAL60 into the search field and found quite a few references to your problem. One poster found a losution in updated drivers for their capture card which would allow capturing of PAL60 output. If that isn't an optin your case, have a read of this -> https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=291565&highlight=pal60 as it offers possible solutions.
