Sorry if this has been asked, I looked through the forum and searched and couldn't find my situation.

I have a VIDEO_TS folder, and want to make each DVD Chapter a separate Xvid/DivX file. Is this possible with this program?

Currently I am using the Video Tab to take a VIDEO_TS folder and having it extract 1 chapter at a time. This is painstaking since I have a DVD with dozens of chapters.

Is there a faster way to do this, than one chapter at a time?

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Try to use "mencoder DivX" and select the chapters to be encoded in the video tab.

When I do that I'm getting one single file with multiple chapters in it. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

I have thet DivX (mencoder) selected, then click on the video tab. Then in the bottom right hand corner I have boxes that say:

    Title: [ ] Chap [ ] - [ ]
    Angle: [ ]

What I'm doing is putting, for example, Chap: 2 - 4.

This creates one file with chapters 2, 3, and 4 in it. I would like to make a one file for chapter 2, one file for chapter 3, and one file for chapter 4.

OR, maybe another approach would be better. Can I split an AVI file into two parts at a certain time? For example, if I have a 30 minute AVI and want it split at 13 minutes and 26 seconds, can I do this?

Run it three times, once chapter 2, the next chapter 3, the next chapter 4.
You can queue up files one after each other.

I did something similar a while back, but used the mplayer/mencoder command-line tools rather than all that mucking aroung with repetitive gui actions...

That's easy to do in QuickTime Pro if the file plays in QT. It's also easy in iMovie. "Split movie at playhead" or something like that.

Is that something that you could explain to those of us who aren't familiar with command line tools? In my case, I'm very interested in converting a bunch of DVD's into iPod playlists so I could jump to the chapter I want to see. Thanks.
