  1. Hi, i use virtualdubmod's "subtitler" filter for divx films but how can i manage the vertical position of subtitle, i mean how to pull it down on black band.

    You can't control that in the filter, AFAIK. It semi-observes the vertical placements in the SSA format, but there's too many variables. You'd need quite a bit of experimentation... And SubStationAlpha

    i mean how to pull it down on black band
    Philips DVP642 can play AVI with the sub being displayed underneath the picture (i.e., in the black band). This is a nice feature for me since I simply want to see what the director intended to show us, his audiences, in the picture. No sub, no pan-and-scan, please.

    You may want to check out the Toshiba SD 3990 or the Yamaha DVS 5750. I heard these 2 machines display subtitle for AVI the similar way to the Philips.

    One last note: I prefer watching AVI because I can put 6 AVIs onto a single-layer DVD.

    You can do it with the Vobsub or VSFilter / DirectVobSub Vdub subtitle filters.
