Can any member point me in the right direction for virtualdub filters, I had a filter which 'cartoonized' a movie but new computer and I didn't backup my plugins.

    Probably the MSU Cartoonizer

Here's a good list of some of the more popular Vdub filters as well

I would like to add the greysale filter but when I save it I get a huge file. How can I compress none of the video codecs seem to work. Error message stats file not found and the error code -1.

    Anybody?

You have two problems. The 'stats' file error happens when you try to do a two pass encode and select the second pass first in error. Do the first pass and that will generate the 'stats' file. Then the second or additional passes will use that file for the next passes.

The huge file problem is usually because you didn't select a codec. VD will default to a RGB codec and the file will be 'huge'. Just select the desired codec next time.

When you add a new codec, you have to restart VD and it should show up in 'Compression'.

They are installed to the 'Plugins' folder inside the VD program folder. You will only see the filters you added. The others are part of the program. You only need the part with the .vdf extension. Restart VD and they should be available in your filter selection.
